Take Me Back to The Home Page
We encourage you to shop around for prices but in doing so inquire into the protection and service you will receive for the money you spend.
Our company is fully Licensed, our Motor Carrier number is MC 311923 and our D.O.T. Number is 668825. You can verify this at the government website called "Safersys".  Believe it or not, there are companies doing business that are not properly licensed and some using pick-up trucks for smaller boats are not licensed at all.
There are two types of Insurance necessary to protect you and your boat. Liability Insurance protects you if the transport company is involved in an accident, the other is called Cargo Insurance. Damage to your boat is only covered under the Cargo Policy. The government requires at least $750,000.00 in Liability coverage for transportation across state lines, we carry $1,000,000.00. The minimun Cargo coverage required is $5,000.00 this small an amount will hardly cover any damages to your boat. Our company carries $200,000.00 Proof of Insurance is provided directly from our Insurance carrier and we would encourage that you insist on this method of proof from all potential Transporters.

Information about Transport Brokers
There are companies operating as "Transport Brokers" who act as middlemen between the Transporter and the boat-owner, they arrange transportation by putting your quote out for bid and very often their price to you "seems" cheaper, they sometimes represent themselves as "Arranger's" or "Co-ordinators" or "Agents" for Transport Companies. In reality they are Transport Brokers and as such they are required by law to have a Brokers Authority and must carry a $10,000.00 bond. This bond protects you against damages caused by the broker. The number assigned to the Broker by the government gives you the means of tracking the broker down should there be legal issues you may encounter with the Broker.
Another issue of concern when dealing with a broker, is your inability to talk directly with the Transporter before the contract is signed.  All Transport Companies are required to have a DOT Number  and if they transport over state lines they are required to have a Motor Carrier Number. Transport Companies are also required to carry Insurance to protect you against liability lawsuits and damages to your boat. Don't depend on Transport Broker's to supply you with this information.
You can check-out the Broker's Authority at the "Safersys" website. If the Broker isn't listed then he isn't legal and should be avoided regardless of how "cheap" his price seems to be.
The link below will take you to the government site whereby you can check to see if a Broker is in compliance with the law, this site is updated by the government on a daily basis and is extremely accurate. Insert the MC Number, DOT Number or the Company name in the query box for the official records. If you receive a "NO RECORDS FOUND" results you are dealing with a company that is not in the system and you should question them as to why.
